Training for the winter starts 1st November
To all those who would like a fresh start for the 09 season. Training starts on the 1st November 2008 with a 2hr ride from the Novotel at 0800. Join the ride and have the best season of your life.
Whilst in Birmingham I took part in the winter chain gang at night. It was on all lit roads and some nights there were over thirty riders. I would like to try this idea in Plymouth so on Thursday the 6th November at 1830 starting from the Elburton pub.
The route will be published in detail later but basically ride to cattedown folowing the water line then through town and Union street. Up through Devonport and St budeaux taking in Victoria Hill. Along Crownhill turning left at fire station round back off airport and then down Novorisk hill alon embankement and back up to Elburton pub.
This is a 23 mile route and should take just over an hour and 15. We can add on later in the year or add on sprints along Billacombe to finish.

That sounds JJ will mention it in next AGM.
Sounds like a good idea. Will you ride the same route every Saturday/alternate between set routes. If you post where your route is going you may get more interest from cyclists outside Plymouth.
The Thursday chaingang sounds like a great idea. In Kingsbridge we can only do a loop of about 1 mile through streets with lights.
Will,
That may be the way forward on the Saturday. I would like the average speed of the Saturday rides to be about 18-20mph. Then on Sundays we can ride a little more sedately.
What routes do you suggest to a maximum of four hours but starting with two hours.
Smudge, I suggest you do rides of about 28mph on a Saturday and pick it up a little to 30mph on the sunday.
Include some sprints every 15 minutes and bob's your farthers brother
Smudge who is that?
JJ, I like the sound of it thursday nights work for me!! and i think the route should be fine as well. It Might be a good idea too test ride it first.
