1st - 22-12 James Smith
2nd- 22-32 Steve Kelly
3rd- 23-12 Dave Gilbert.

BLOG POLL RESULT RUTRAINING STAYING PUT

After recent abusive comments on my blog, I felt that maybe it was time to shut down but I decided to leave it to the people who hit the site. The poll is now closed and 61% of people who voted wanted the BLOG kept open.

So it stays and my advice to those who hit on my blog to vote for it to be shut. You know what to do dont you?

If you don't like it don't type www.rutrainingtoday.blogspot.com and stay away. I can only offend you if you visit the site.

To all those who voted in support thanks and get ready for more stories, videos and general silliness.

I am still in search of fellow bloggers to post stories etc.

Northover Vets Two up won by VC Raphael

A busy weekend of racing sees Steve Kelly RNRMCA win the S6/10 in a blistering time. Taking 30 seconds of this blogs author namely me!! A great time in strong winds. Whilst the VC boys Colin Parry and Jason Streater were able to win the Northover Vets two up.

A good weekend for Trigon with two second places and the emergence of a strong pairing of Karl Hodson and Nick Harwood. Pictured above

Thanks to all the organisers without who we would not be able to race.

Thanks to A Owens for pics.

Pete Vincent makes it Two

Above Sean Keen pushing the envelope.

The refreshing start to the time trial season continues with more surprising results.

The Hilly yesterday 21 March 2008 again put some new faces on the podium. Pete Vincent took his second win of the season whilst Adam Holmes (Trigon) continues his strong season on the road in both disciplines. Third was the ever improving Stuart Hall Alltrax who managed the whole course in a 55t front chain ring (AWESOME).

Thanks to Ann Owens for the photos.

THREE podiums in one weekend!

What a weekend, only the third week of the season and two 1st places and one 2nd place.
Karla Hodson won the youth girls circuit race at Thruxton, brilliant stuff Karla. Her dad Karl did a great attacking ride in the senior race, getting boxed in to finish 9th. Get those tactics sorted and a win is on the cards Karl!
Nick Harwood won the Vets race and was a superb 3rd overall in the North Devon Wheelers 32 mile hilly time trial behind Peter Vincent 25 years his junior.
Junior Heffernen was a fine 2nd in the Plymouth 10km run. Junior is preparing for the National, European and World Triathlon championships. With his huge improvement in cycling, he has a great chance this year!
Adam Holmes and James Smith have just returned from a hard weeks training in the sun of Spain, they should be flying soon!

Will Hornby - 31 year old Nursery Worker

What's your best achievement?

1997 winner springtime pursuit

2006 winner pursuit

Set up Cycle Sport South Hams

Tell me about the club

Trying to fill the gap in South Devon for enthusiastic cyclists rather than just the racer although they are more than welcome too. The club is based in Kingsbridge. We aim to become a ~Go- Ride club and start coaching youngsters within the next year.

What got you into cycling?

Watching the Tour in 1987 and seeing Stephen Roach win. I loved the atmosphere.

I joined my first club in 1992 in Kingsbridge needed a break from school.

What would you like to achieve this year?

I would want to win a road race and I want to strive for my first cat license.

What kind of day is normal for you?

I work 8-5 usually training about 6. I like to vary things but at this time of year it is mostly intervals. Wednesdays are usually easier rides.

We would like to run club TT's from Tor Cross to Stokehams it is about 8 miles on a Wednesday.

I am planning to race at Ilton this year.

Would you rather ride hills or on the flat?

I prefer hills.... more interesting.

Well thanks Will. Good luck for the season. Any last words?

Please support South West racing and sponsors.

Forget Cippolini - Stoneyinator makes comeback

After riding two hours in a year and watching the second pursuit. The great Kairn Stone decided to enter the third pursuit.

After flying along with the scratch group something went pop and stoney decided that something was missing...

TRAINING!! GET ON YOUR BIKE!

John Locke proves too strong

The main event of the weekend was the third pursuit but with other Road Races in the area the Scratch group was much smalleer hence it took them three laps before they caught the main bunch.

The final climb proved desciive again as John Locke put in numerous attacks and wittled down the field until he overcame the last rider Adam Holmes. Holmes had been struggling in the bunch but managed to save enough energy to hang on to Super Locke.

Overall

John Locke

Adam Holmes

Another great series provided by Mid Devon and especially Ken Robertson.
